How to keep your period tracker records when moving to a new iPhone

A period calendar is only useful if the dates you saved stay with you. MiniCycle does not require a MiniCycle account, so moving to a new iPhone should be handled deliberately: use iCloud Sync if you turned it on, or use Apple's transfer and backup flow, then verify the records before erasing the old phone.

Start with the right expectation

MiniCycle keeps cycle records on your device by default and does not upload them to a MiniCycle account. If you turn on iCloud Sync in settings, MiniCycle stores a copy in your private iCloud account so a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple ID can restore it. If you leave iCloud Sync off, the iPhone transfer process still matters.

Use Apple's transfer or backup flow

When you are setting up a new iPhone, Apple documents two common paths: Quick Start device transfer and restoring from an iCloud or computer backup. Use one of those migration paths before you rely on the new phone as your main device.

If you use a computer backup, follow Apple's current backup guidance and pay attention to encryption when the backup includes sensitive health-related data from the device. Apple's support documents are the source of truth for the current setup screens and requirements.

Check MiniCycle before erasing the old iPhone

After the new iPhone is set up, open MiniCycle and review the calendar before wiping the previous device. Check that recent period starts, end dates, notes, statistics, and widget state look reasonable. This is faster than trying to reconstruct dates later from memory.

If you are switching from another period app

MiniCycle currently focuses on a lightweight calendar experience rather than account-based importing from other period trackers. If your previous app offers an export, keep that file or screenshot for your own records, then manually enter the period starts you trust most. Recent start dates are the most important inputs for MiniCycle's cycle estimates.

A practical migration checklist

Before changing phones: turn on iCloud Sync if you want MiniCycle to restore through iCloud, or make a current backup or direct transfer if you prefer the local route. Keep the old iPhone nearby, open MiniCycle on the new phone, verify the calendar, and only then erase or trade in the old device.

MiniCycle is built for a clean iPhone period calendar, local records, simple statistics, and a home screen widget.
